</p><p>The forecast is calling for 20 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday night. If you are growing your North American pitcher plant, sundew or venus flytrap in a pot, then move it to a protected location.
</p><p>For those unfamiliar with protecting plants during the winter, digging a hole in your sunny flowerbed for the pot is ideal. A garage or cool sunny windowsill works too. However, to prevent pests and rot disease your plants should be outside as much as possible. If you bring them in the house just make sure they aren’t growing leaves; they need to rest for a few months!
</p><p>If you are growing your North American pitcher plant in your yard you don't have to do anything yet. If the weather forecast predicts sub zero temperatures (in the negatives), then put six inches of pine needles on your bog garden. A layer of pine needles is a good idea anyway; it holds in the moisture during the summer!
