sweet

The sweet pitcher plant is native to the coastal plain of the South East United States.  It is the smallest upright species and is prized for its vibrant sweet-smelling flowers and vigorous clumping habit.  It is the only species of pitcher plant that produces multiple flowers from a single growth point!

Carnivorous Plant Connection has tested many of the subspecies and varieties.  Three stand out from the rest:  Wherry’s sweet pitcher, mountain sweet pitcher, and North Carolina sweet pitcher.  Wherry’s sweet has slightly furry pitchers up to 18 inches tall and is very easy and rewarding.  Mountain sweet pitcher plant is the largest and showiest of the sweet pitcher plants (it is federally endangered so we can’t ship out of state).  North Carolina sweet pitcher plant produces lots of little crimson flowers and pitchers about 8 inches tall.
